Background
Scalable Cloud Video Solutions (SCVS) is a technology systems and solutions integrator. Offering full-service solutions from procurement to post-installation support and training, SCVS is the preferred integrated solutions provider for Samsara and Pelco Smart Cameras.
Samsara is a multi-billion dollar of fleet management and site security solutions manufacturer. They innovate and manufacture cutting-edge hardware and software which increases operational efficiency and safety for companies worldwide. Pelco is a manufacturer of high-end surveillance hardware which is the preferred camera integrator for Samsara’s Site Gateway, as recommended by Samsara.
SCVS was a concept presented to Samsara’s Director of Product Management as a white-glove integrator of Samsara and Pelco’s products. The idea was simple - establish a third-party consultancy which would provide a full suite of services to clients of Samsara and Pelco to generate business and close deals for all three companies.
Defining Goals and Difficulties
Challenges
Given the size and reputation of Samsara and Pelco, it would take a well-executed, professional website to be recommended as the preferred third-party solutions integrator.
Additionally, in order to find success from a revenue standpoint, offering a user-focused design which properly funnels online customers towards the necessary products in the online store would be imperative.
More specifically, we needed to answer the following:
How can we offer enough value to be directly recommended by Samsara and Pelco?
How can we help users better understand all technology integrations, solutions, and systems involved without causing user dropoff?
Can we effectively offer an online suite of Pelco products which can integrate with Samsara’s Site Visibility software?

In order to solve the identified challenges, we were able to develop and deliver solutions which would accomplish all of our goals.
By creating an informative, easily navigated online storefront, we could offer insights into the technology involved in this complicated partnership, as well as give customers the ability to easily buy the items they needed without having to go through an actual sales team.
Specifically, we delivered the following:
We built a brand which would serve as a full-service partner for customers of Samsara and Pelco.
We designed a seamless User Experience which properly walks customers through the complicated steps of the integration process.
We provided easily understood insights which inform users of all experience levels on how SCVS functions and what services and solutions it offers.
We created and effectively showcased the suite of Pelco products which work with the Samsara Site Visibility Solution, with ease of purchase in mind.
Tangible Outcomes
Results
Because of a commitment to creating an e-commerce site which focused on both user and business needs, we were able to deliver and ship a product which accomplished all of our goals.
Specifically, our solutions accomplished the following:
SCVS is now linked as Samsara’s preferred partner for their sites solutions in their Expert Marketplace directory.
SCVS is a user-centered, easily navigated website which is accessible for people of all experience levels, needs, and abilities.
SCVS functions as an online store which has seen large enterprise sales and is actively building engagement through optimized content, extremely competitive pricing, and a unique value proposition.
Lessons Learned
Conclusion
I learned a lot of lessons throughout this process, which have helped me become a more confident, agile, and effective designer.
More specifically, I learned:
Building a brand with a clear value proposition which solves needs for high-level clients and partners requires empathetic thinking, user-centered design systems, and extensive market research.
Working with cross-functional teams from partner companies is a great way to drive success for both businesses and satisfy the needs of mutual customers, which is a top priority.
